Unwaivering Faith Disproved by 11 year old Niece.
by OnTheWayOut inme: well it's kinda complicated.
they think god exists according to various beliefs, but that he is all powerful and does all that is best for everyone.. (she collapsed in laughter at this for a full 2 minutes then composed herself).
mary: so they really think he is all powerful and uses his power to do what is best for everyone?.

Landover Baptist is a parody site.
I can't believe so many take it for real.

University after leaving the Watchtower?
by SweetBabyCheezits inhello, you sexy sassy posters of jwn.
i'm starting this thread in the hopes of finding... uh, hope.... and sharing it with others who are in a similar boat.
i'm looking for input from anyone who meets the following criteria:.
-
Broken Promises
- raised by devout JWs
- skipped university after high school due to WT propaganda
- got married and had one or more kids
- woke up later and left the WT
- decided to invest in a real university education
- not made of time or money
The above applies to me. I am about to start my foray into further education by starting a diploma course in February. I'm nervous about how I'll go but I really want to do it.
@fulltimestudent, you have a PM.

Do you recall any disputes during the development of the New Song Book?
by Quarterback ini seem to recall someone mentioning to me that george benson assisted with some of the work on the new song book.. then he left the assignment after an argument with the team.
is there any thing that anyone remembers about that one?.

Broken Promises
I remember hearing the bootleg Celine Dion cover (supposedly produced by Benson) and thinking Wow! The society has finally got it together in the music department!
Can you elaborate on that?
What song was a "cover" of which CD song?

Does Jehovah Still Call Black People the "No-No" Word?
by arko_n9ne ini feel the title is an attention-grabber, but in no means am i looking to start racial tension on jwn.. i know in the past, at least to the 50's from what i've read, the watchtower society has been very demeaning toward people of a less alabaster pigment.
in one instance saying white people were superior and god blessed them that way for good reason.. however, i have not been able to find an official statement from them in any of their printed works that either clears up or apologizes and further corrects that bold standing.. so, to those much wiser than me, is there an official statement from the watchtower identifying people of different race as equal?
and if not, to the ex/current brothers and sisters who are of an "ethnic" background, what are your feelings on the society's derrogatory statements being left unchanged 60-100 years later?.

I've attended English-language congregations in European countries and they had a great mix of nationalities. The one thing they had in common was that they all could speak English (the most widely-spoken language of the world) so you had Africans, Asians, Europeans and some locals all in one congregation.
Attending such congregations did help cement the idea of an "international brotherhood".

Conquering A JW Fear
by EmptyInside ini'm watching a creepy movie.
in my jw days,i would label it demonized.
don't ask me how a movie can be demonized, but it can.. but,i must confess,i am still superstitious about such things.

Broken Promises
I think it's good to test our fears and overcome them. Especially when we have been brainwashed like the JWs' ideas of the supernatural.
As transhuman68 pointed out, the "scary" parts are simply good special effects. And the older the movie, the lamer the SFX look.

The poor guy and his wife. Not only do they have the unbearable grief of losing a child, but they have to put up with the JW crap aka "encouragement about the resurrection" as well.
